India’s women’s cricket team has landed in Leeds ahead of its upcoming Group A match against the Netherlands at Headingley on Wednesday.
Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, the side will enter the fixture with confidence after recording a convincing 64-run victory over Pakistan in its tournament opener.
The squad travelled from Birmingham to Leeds by road, taking in picturesque surroundings and enjoying coffee during the journey.
Speaking about Arundhati Reddy, Smriti Mandhana praised her competitive attitude and credited her for encouraging teammates to remain focused on preparation and performance.
Reddy, in turn, highlighted Mandhana’s expertise in choosing restaurants while travelling overseas, noting that her recommendations are usually reliable.
Jemimah Rodrigues described Shreyanka Patil as a thoughtful teammate who consistently cares for those around her.
Patil responded by saying that Rodrigues often surprises teammates with gifts and kind gestures, making her a popular figure within the dressing room.
Shafali Varma revealed that fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur has a fondness for soft toys, while Deepti Sharma said Richa Ghosh is often the team’s go-to source for information about destinations they visit.
With morale high following their opening success, India will now turn its attention to the Netherlands as it looks to secure a second consecutive victory in the competition.
