Due to excessive rain, India’s team in transition will feel cheated of the chance to potentially defeat the West Indies in the second Test and wrap up a 2-0 series victory on Monday. India called the shots here as well and gave the hosts an intimidating aim of 365, hoping to complete a clean sweep after their victory in Dominica within three days. However, the fifth and final day of play was postponed, and the game finished in a tie.

India defeats the West Indies in the first test

The Indians would have undoubtedly boosted their chances of winning and earning a full 24 points in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023–25 cycle after taking two wickets to leave the struggling West Indies trailing by 289 runs at the close of the fourth day of play. But the severe downpour prevented it, and India ended their Test campaign without making any more progress.

About the first game

After losing a game that lasted about two and a half hours, the main cover was removed as the sky turned clear blue. Due to the rain, which returned as the grounds crew was preparing the playing arena for the match, the game was originally slated to begin at 13.15 local time, more than four hours after the original start time of 9 a.m.

Rain on the pitch

When the rain finally stopped, hopes of seeing some movement on the pitch were once again raised. It was already past time for play to resume. The West Indies’ second innings were resumed with their overnight score of 76 for two as Tagenarine Chanderpaul (batting 24) and Jermaine Blackwood (20) removed the covers once more. However, the coverings were back in place as a huge cloud hung over Queen’s Park Oval, frustrating spectators wishing to see cricket and those hoping to start the game.

It briefly halted before resuming with more ferocity, crushing any dreams of play picking up. Water puddles had once again formed on the covers, and the grass was now extremely soggy. On the fourth evening, the hosts lost their captains, Kraigg Brathwaite and Kirk McKenzie, so Chanderpaul and Blackwood were left to spearhead their comeback.
a team-wise score of the teams

They ultimately did not need to enter the pitch in an effort to preserve a Test match on a fifth-day pitch, which had few demons. To Rohit’s men, the equation was straightforward. To get the most points (12) and percentage of points (100) from the game, India has to bowl out the West Indies on the last day. All teams that triumph in a Test in the WTC receive a total of 12 points for that match.
