IND vs. AUS: Team India, the newly crowned Asia Cup 2023 champions, will return to action later this week when they play former ODI World Cup champions Australia in a three-match ODI series that gets underway on Friday in Mohali. The series begins just a few weeks before India hosts the ICC One Day International Cricket World Cup 2023, which will start on October 5 in Ahmedabad.

IND vs. AUS, 3 matches ODI series

Before the World Cup, both teams will work to fill any gaps in their armor. The teams for the three-match ODI series were unveiled on Monday night by skipper Rohit Sharma and top selector Ajit Agarkar of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The first two ODI matches will be played in Mohali and Indore, and KL Rahul, who made a great recovery from thigh surgery in the Asia Cup 2023, will captain the team instead of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and injured Axar Patel.

Rahul and Jadeja to lead for the first two ODI’s

Rahul will be supported by Ravindra Jadeja in the opening two ODI games. In what is expected to be India’s final 15 for the Cricket World Cup 2023 as well, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be back in Rajkot for the third ODI on September 27. Washington Sundar has been added to the squad as an all-rounder because Axar Patel’s fitness will be assessed after the first two ODIs.

Before the World Cup, Team India will also be vying for the top spot in the ICC ODI Rankings. Team India’s 3-0 victory will allow them to unseat Pakistan from the top spot in the current rankings. If Australia defeats India 3-0, they will also surpass India as the best ODI side in the world.
