Indian shooters prepare for ISSF World Cup in Tangier, aiming for a strong start with an experienced squad across skeet and trap events.
India’s leading shotgun shooters are poised to compete at the ISSF World Cup 2026 in Tangier, Morocco, commencing Thursday.
The tournament marks the opening leg of a four-stage ISSF World Cup series dedicated to shotgun disciplines this season.
A 20-member Indian contingent will seek podium finishes against a strong international field.
The squad features prominent names such as Olympians Maheshwari Chauhan, Kynan Chenai, and Prithviraj Tondaiman, all aiming to deliver a robust start.
Chauhan will lead India’s charge in women’s skeet. She narrowly missed an Olympic medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics in mixed skeet alongside Anantjeet Singh Naruka, who is absent from this event.
In the men’s trap, India fields an experienced combination, including Bhowneesh Mendiratta, a silver medallist at the 2025 Asian Championships, alongside Chenai and Tondaiman.
The women’s trap team includes Rajeshwari Kumari, an Asian Games silver medallist, and Aashima Ahlawat, an Asian Championships bronze winner.
The competition will host 271 shooters from 43 National Olympic Committees, ensuring intense rivalry.
Individual event winners will secure qualification for the ISSF World Cup Final scheduled in Rome this December.
India’s squad spans men’s and women’s skeet and trap categories, along with mixed team events, reflecting depth and balance.
The schedule begins with women’s skeet on March 28 at 8:30 PM IST, followed by men’s skeet.
Trap events commence on April 1, with the mixed team competition set for April 2.
