Former IPL champions Gujarat Titans will host Mumbai Indians in match 9 of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday evening.

Both sides are looking to bounce back after suffering defeats in their opening matches of the season.

Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, came close in their high-scoring contest against Punjab Kings.

Despite solid half-centuries from Sai Sudharsan (74 off 41 balls) and Jos Buttler (54 off 33), they fell short chasing 244.

The bowlers, including Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada, were unable to stop Punjab’s aggressive batting, particularly Shreyas Iyer’s 97 off 42.

Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, struggled to post a competitive total in their game against Chennai Super Kings, managing just 155/9.

Although the bowlers tried to defend the total, CSK clinched the win with five balls remaining.

MI will, however, gain a boost with the return of captain Hardik Pandya, who faces his former team for the first time since captaining GT to the IPL 2022 title.

In their head-to-head record, GT holds a slight edge, having won three out of five matches against MI.

Their rivalry dates back to May 2022, with Gujarat winning the most recent encounter in March 2024.
