As Pakistan prepares to host the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, questions loom over India’s participation in the tournament, scheduled from February 19 to March 9. The BCCI has confirmed that the Indian government will decide whether the team, led by Rohit Sharma, will travel to Pakistan.
No Decision Yet on India’s Travel Plans
BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla stated that no decision has been made regarding India’s participation. “We always seek the government’s permission for international tours,” Shukla said. “Whatever the government decides, we will follow.”
Tense History Between the Two Nations
Since the 2008 Mumbai attacks, India has avoided playing bilateral cricket in Pakistan. The two teams have only faced off in ICC events or neutral venues, with their last tour to Pakistan occurring over 15 years ago. Despite ongoing political tensions, Pakistan toured India for the 2023 ODI World Cup, marking a rare moment of cricket diplomacy.
