Glenn Maxwell out of England match after golf buggy fall

Australian batter Glenn Maxwell sustained a concussion after falling off the back of a golf buggy. The incident occured on Monday while the Australian team was in Ahmedabad for a game of golf on a day off. As of now, there’s no excessive injury and he would be available for further games in the tournament.

Maxwell defeated the Netherlands last week with the fastest century in World Cup history – a 40 ball century. At the World Cup he has 196 runs at an average of 39.20 and four-off spin wickets to his credit. The 35-year old suffered a bizzare accident during a birthday party last year that fractured his leg.

The England team is almost eliminated from the semi-finals, but Australia is still alive and well in the standings after four straight victories. They would get one step closer t guaranteering a spot in the semi-finals with a victory in Ahmedabad.

Because of Maxwell’s injury, Marcus Stoinis another all-round player, or Cameron Green may be called up, but the latter has been dealing with a calf problem.
