Gambhir said in a podcast interview that India won the World Cup and only lost one match. “Rohit has done an outstanding job as captain. Winning five IPL trophies is a difficult feat. If Rohit is in good form, the 42-year-old former player believes he should captain the Indian team in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

“If Rohit Sharma is playing well, he ought to be heading the T20 World Cup; if not, the person who is not playing well shouldn’t be selected for the T20 World Cup. A captain has responsibilities. You are appointed captain after first being chosen as a player.
