The 2023 Ballon d’Or winners, Lionel Messi and Aitana Bonmati, are officially announced. The wait has ended. On Monday night, the Barcelona and Spain midfielder won the women’s title, while the Argentina and Inter Miami star brought home the men’s prize from Paris.

Lionel Messi wins the 2023 Men’s Ballon d’Or

On Monday night, Messi formally accepted the 2023 Ballon d’Or after being chosen to win the prize for the eighth time in his career. In addition to making a lasting impression on the world stage, his victory at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar put him squarely back in the running for the Ballon d’Or award.

Messi’s play in Qatar helped his individual results a lot, even if he was outscored by Erling Haaland in the previous season. Many people had even expected that he would win the award.

Aitana Bonmati wins the 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or

Aitana Bonmati won the 2023 Ballon d’Or, making her the official best female football player in the world. The midfielder for Barcelona had an incredible year, winning the Women’s World Cup with her country.
