England strengthened their hold on the five-match T20I series with a resounding 125-run win over India in the third encounter at Trent Bridge on Wednesday.
With the opening match washed out and England winning the next two, the hosts now hold a commanding 2-0 advantage.
Opting to bat first, England amassed 201/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Phil Salt laid the foundation with a sparkling 70 off 44 balls, while Sam Curran accelerated towards the end with an unbeaten 41 from 24 deliveries.
Jos Buttler chipped in with a brisk 36, helping England recover strongly after a brief middle-order wobble.
India’s standout performer was debutant Prince Yadav, who enjoyed an encouraging start to his international career with figures of 2/30. He removed Harry Brook early before dismissing the dangerous Salt, while India’s fielders contributed with three run-outs.
Despite those efforts, England continued to score freely during the closing stages of the innings.
India never looked settled during the chase of 202 as England’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure from the outset.
The visitors collapsed for just 76 in 11.4 overs, with wickets falling at regular intervals and no batter able to build a significant partnership.
Josh Tongue starred with the ball by claiming four wickets, while Jofra Archer added three more to dismantle the Indian batting order.
Adil Rashid also played his part with two wickets as England wrapped up a one-sided contest in emphatic fashion.
The comprehensive triumph puts England within touching distance of securing the series, with two matches still to be played. India must now win both remaining fixtures to avoid losing the series and keep their hopes of drawing the contest alive.
