Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured their first victory of IPL 2026 by defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by 23 runs in the 18th match at the MA Chidambaram Cricket Stadium in Chennai. After setting a challenging target of 213 runs, CSK bowled out the Delhi Capitals for 189.

Delhi Capitals began their chase confidently, with KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka adding 61 runs for the opening wicket in just 4.6 overs. Rahul scored 18 off 10 balls, while Nissanka struck 41 off 24 deliveries, including five fours and two sixes.

The middle order failed to maintain momentum. Sameer Rizvi departed for 6, while captain Axar Patel fell for just 1 run to Gurjapneet Singh. David Miller added 17 runs, and Ashutosh Sharma scored 19 before Noor Ahmad dismissed him.

Tristan Stubbs fought hard with an impressive 60 off 38 balls, but lacked support from the other end. Auqib Nabi Dar and Kuldeep Yadav managed only 4 runs each.

For the Chennai Super Kings, Jamie Overton delivered a standout performance, claiming 4 wickets for just 18 runs in his four overs. Anshul Kamboj also impressed with three wickets, playing a crucial role in restricting the opposition.

Earlier, CSK posted a commanding 212/2 in their 20 overs. Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad provided a solid start, putting on 62 runs for the first wicket. Gaikwad scored 15 runs before his dismissal.

Samson then built a vital 113-run partnership with Ayush Mhatre, who scored 59 off 36 balls before retiring out. Samson continued his dominance and brought up his fourth IPL century in just 52 balls. He remained unbeaten on 115 from 56 deliveries, striking 15 fours and four sixes.

Shivam Dube added a quick unbeaten 20 off 10 balls, helping CSK finish strongly.

This result marked Chennai Super Kings’ first win of the season, while Delhi Capitals suffered their second consecutive defeat, impacting their position in the standings.
