Here is what AB de Villiers said about Virat Kohli when asked about his first impression.
If we ask you about a perfect bond in IPL, the first name that will pop out will be Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. But do you know what AB de Villers thought about Virat Kohli when he met him for the first? Well, we will tell you here.
Last week, Virat Kohli made his way to Bengaluru to begin preparing for the upcoming Indian Premier League season. On April 2, RCB will play Mumbai Indians in their first IPL 2023 game at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. At the venue, RCB held a live event for their fans, which included Kohli, Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, and Glenn Maxwell.
AB on Virat Kohli
De Villiers discussed his initial impression of Kohli during an interview with Gayle on the RCB podcast. The former captain of South Africa admitted that the India batsman was “cocky” and “arrogant.”
De Villiers said
“After getting to know Kohli better, the 39-year-old’s perception of the former Indian captain changed quickly. When I first met him, I think he had a barrier around him, but that barrier broke down and I got to know him. After that initial meeting, there was a lot of respect. He wasn’t bad, but you get what I’m saying. AB continued, “He’s a top man now, but the first impression was ufff… he needs to come down to earth a little bit.”
De Villiers will go down in history as a legend for RCB and one of the best Indian Premier League players ever. Gayle, who likewise wore the RCB shirt for quite a while, had a sincere visit with AB after a very long time.

De Villiers and Kohli have become close friends both on and off the field.
Even though De Villiers said he would stop playing cricket altogether in November 2021, Kohli is still a very important part of the RCB team.
