The BCCI will assess Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness for the Champions Trophy 2025 on February 11 following a recent back scan.

Jasprit Bumrah

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will decide on Jasprit Bumrah’s availability for the Champions Trophy 2025 on February 11.

After a recent back scan at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, the medical team will assess the pacer’s fitness and then meet with the selectors to determine if Bumrah can play in the tournament.

Bumrah’s Injury Concerns And Setback In Australia

Earlier in January, Bumrah faced a setback during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia. Doctors in Australia advised him to skip the remainder of the Sydney Test due to back issues.

The BCCI responded by recommending that he rest for at least five weeks before undergoing another scan to assess his recovery.

Bumrah’s Impressive Record In 2024

Despite his injury, Bumrah had a stellar year in 2024, emerging as the leading wicket-taker in international cricket with 86 wickets in 21 matches.

His performance in Test matches was particularly remarkable, taking 71 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 14.92.

His form makes him a critical player for India in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.

Bumrah’s Role In India’s Champions Trophy 2025 Campaign

Bumrah’s fitness is crucial for India’s success in the Champions Trophy 2025, which takes place from February 19 to March 9 across Pakistan and Dubai.

India will open their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20, followed by a high-profile match against Pakistan on February 23 and a final group-stage match against New Zealand on March 2.

If Bumrah is fit, his presence will bolster India’s fast bowling attack, making him key to their tournament success.

The BCCI’s decision regarding Bumrah’s fitness will significantly impact India’s strategy for the Champions Trophy. As India heads into the tournament, Bumrah’s return to full fitness will strengthen the squad’s pace attack, providing India with a greater chance of claiming the ICC title.
