New Zealand VC Tom Latham praises Australia ahead of AUS VS NZ match on Saturday.
Even though the five-time champions have had a slow start to their campaign, vice captain of New Zealand Tom Latham believes that Australia will be at their best when the teams square off on Saturday at the world cup in Dharamshala.
After winning three straight games, including their most recent thumping of the Netherlands, the Australian team is now the fourth in the standings with six points from five games.
They are surely playing some fantastic cricket, Latham said. Although they may not have had the best start to the season, the form they’ve shown over the last three games clearly represents the Australia that we know. They generally fight to the very end, and I suppose it’s a challenge every time we play against each other. You can’t take them lightly, as they are among the best sides in the world for a reason and are of excellent quality.
New Zealand, third in the standings and runners-up in 2019, have only suffered a loss in the tournament against India, the hosts.
I think we’ve shown throughout this tournament that we’ve seen plenty of teams that on their given day can beat anyone, Latham stated. Australia is not any different either. We therefore anticipate that they will play at their peak, and we hope to perform well enough to make this a fantastic game.
