Asia Cup: SL vs PAK
The Asia Cup 2023 will determine which team will face off against India in the championship game. To qualify for the final, Rohit Sharma’s team won two convincing matches in the Super 4s over Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Bangladesh was already eliminated, leaving Pakistan and Sri Lanka as the remaining two contenders. Teams competing in the Asia Cup have had an interesting voyage because rain interfered with their initial intentions. But what if Pakistan’s Super 4 match vs. Sri Lanka is similarly postponed?
Is a reserve day already in place?
For the India vs. Pakistan Super 4 game, the Asian Cricket Council had set up a reserve day, but there is no such arrangement in place for the Sri Lanka vs. Pakistan game. Sri Lanka and Pakistan’s match would need to be decided by a 20-over-per-side duel on Thursday.
What happens if the play is canceled due to rain?
Rain has already affected numerous games in the Asia Cup 2023, and it very well may do so again during the Pakistan vs. Sri Lanka Super 4 match on Thursday in Colombo.
It should be noted that in the event of a total washout, the Sri Lankan squad would go to the final because they had a higher net run rate than Pakistan.
Despite having the same number of points (2) as Pakistan, Sri Lanka is now ranked second in the Super 4 points standings. Each of the teams had one victory and one defeat. However, Pakistan’s results are so significant that they are currently ranked third with a lower net run rate than their Super 4 rivals.

Pakistan’s NRR is -1.892, while Sri Lanka’s is -0.200. Pakistan must therefore play today because defeating the Lankans is their sole chance to advance to the championship game.
Additionally, it should be mentioned that the Asia Cup has never featured a final between India and Pakistan, probably the two fiercest rivals in the sport.
