AIFF Futsal Committee Unveils Ambitious Plans To Transform Indian Futsal

The landscape of Indian futsal is on the brink of significant change as the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Futsal Committee met on Tuesday to outline an ambitious roadmap for the sport’s future.

Amid growing enthusiasm from both players and fans, the committee aims to expand competitive opportunities and lay a foundation for futsal’s development across the country.

Chaired by Mulrajsinh Chudasama, the virtual meeting also saw participation from AIFF Secretary General Anilkumar, Deputy Chairperson Amit Deb, and committee members Krishna Pada Sarkar, Palam Acharji, and Naresh Singh Rana.

The committee’s primary goal is to provide more opportunities for competitive play, especially with the increasing interest in futsal.

“Futsal is growing rapidly in India, and we have seen increasing excitement among players to participate in competitive futsal. It is our intention to give them more games and exposure,” Chudasama explained during the meeting.

Women’s Futsal Championship On The Horizon

Among the key proposals discussed was the simultaneous organisation of the AIFF Women’s Futsal Club Championship alongside the men’s event.

Scheduled for the first week of June, this move marks a significant step toward gender equality within the sport.

“As we launch the AIFF Women’s Futsal Club Championship, we hope to create equal opportunities for women players. In the future, we want to see top teams competing in a futsal league, strengthening the sport’s foundation in India,” Chudasama emphasized.

This dual-gender initiative not only aims to offer competitive play but also plays a crucial role in scouting talent for the Indian futsal national team.

With the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers set for September 16-24, the championship will be key to selecting the best players for the national squad.

Plans For A Professional Futsal League

Looking ahead, the committee discussed the possibility of launching a professional futsal league in India starting next year.

With several states already initiating their own futsal leagues, the AIFF sees a clear opportunity to create a nationwide, structured competition.

This initiative could elevate futsal in India to new heights, providing a platform for both budding talent and experienced players.

As the AIFF continues to chart a bold path for futsal’s development, these initiatives are set to transform the sport, offering players at all levels increased opportunities and exposure.
