Delhi Capitals (DC) registered a huge total of 264/2 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 35th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.
A dominant partnership between KL Rahul and Nitish Rana proved crucial. The pair added 220 runs for the second wicket to anchor the innings.
After securing their seventh consecutive toss win this season, DC skipper Axar Patel chose to bat first.
The team, however, suffered an early blow as Pathum Nissanka got out in the third over. He managed 11 runs off 7 deliveries, including two boundaries, leaving the side at 28 runs.
Following the early wicket, KL Rahul and Nitish Rana steadied the innings with a commanding 220-run partnership off 95 balls. Their stand shifted momentum firmly in Delhi’s favour and put the opposition under pressure.
Nitish played an aggressive knock of 91 runs from 44 balls, striking 11 fours and 4 sixes before being dismissed.
After Nitish’s departure, David Miller joined Rahul at the crease. The duo ensured a solid finish, adding an unbeaten 16 runs in the final stages to push the total to a record high for the franchise.
KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 152 runs from 67 balls, smashing 16 fours and 9 sixes. His innings marked the highest individual score by an Indian player in IPL history. David Miller, however, contributed an unbeaten 3 runs from 3 balls. For PBKS, Xavier Bartlett and Arshdeep Singh claimed one wicket each.
