‘Missing’ farmer’s body fished out of Ganga canal in Ghaziabad

The body of a 52-year-old farmer, missing for two weeks, was recovered from the Ganga canal. The farmer, Umesh Chowdhary, disappeared on January 11, allegedly kidnapped by Neraj Kaushik over a debt. Following a complaint by his son, an FIR was filed on January 15. CCTV footage implicated Kaushik, leading to the arrest of him, his wife, sister-in-law, and Rajendra Sharma on Saturday. Interrogation revealed they confessed to smothering Chowdhary and disposing of his body in the canal. The police, with assistance from the NDRF, retrieved the farmer’s body.
