Preparations for the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony are going on in full swing. As the world eagerly waits for the upcoming consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, slated for January 22, several states and central governments have declared public holidays or half-days to acknowledge the significance of the auspicious ceremony.
The Department of Personnel and Training recently announced that all central government offices will be closed for half a day on January 22 to mark the Pran Pratishta ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol at the Ayodhya Ram Temple. The decision aims to allow employees to actively participate in the celebrations of the event.
Check out the states in which holidays / half-days have been declared for January 22:
1) Tripura
In Tripura, all government offices and educational institutions will remain closed until 2:30 pm on January 22, allowing employees to participate in the Ram Lalla Pran Pratishta celebrations. This directive was issued by Asim Sahai, Deputy Secretary to the Government of Tripura.
2) Chhattisgarh
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai declared that all government offices in the state will be closed until 2:30 pm on January 22, aligning with the Pran Pratishta ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
3) Uttar Pradesh
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the closure of educational institutions, and liquor shops will remain shut throughout the state on the day of the consecration ceremony.
4) Madhya Pradesh
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has declared a school holiday, encouraging people to celebrate the day like a festival. Furthermore, a dry day has been announced, closing all types of shops, including liquor and Bhang outlets.
5) Goa
The Goa government has granted a holiday for government employees and schools on January 22, in recognition of the ‘Pran Pratishta’ ceremony at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.
6) Haryana
The Haryana government has announced the closure of schools on January 22 in light of the Ram Temple Inauguration. Additionally, liquor consumption will not be permitted anywhere in the state on the day of the consecration ceremony.
7) Odisha
In Odisha, all government offices will be closed for half a day on January 22, aligning with the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. The closure includes revenue and magisterial courts (executive).
8) Assam
The Assam government has declared a half-holiday on January 22 in recognition of the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. All state government offices and educational institutions will remain closed until 2:30 PM on January 22 to mark this occasion.
