The construction of the Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya is progressing rapidly, with the inauguration scheduled for January 22 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, Bihar’s RJD MLA, Fateh Bahadur, has once again stirred the political landscape with his controversial remarks on the temple consecration.
Fateh Bahadur raised objections to the consecration, stating, “Everyone is saying that the statue will be consecrated on January 22. So was Ram without life for so many days?” He further questioned the notion of giving life to a stone idol and urged against leading the country into imagination. His remarks have sparked a political uproar.
This is not the first time Fateh Bahadur has courted controversy. Previously, he placed a provocative poster outside Lalu Yadav’s residence in Patna, asserting that temples symbolize mental slavery while schools represent the path to enlightenment. The poster drew attention for its contrasting views on superstition, hypocrisy, ignorance, and rational knowledge.
Bihar Education Minister Chandrashekhar supported Fateh Bahadur’s earlier poster, attributing the remarks to Savitri Bai Phule. However, controversy ensued as a reward of Rs 10 lakh was announced by the Hinduist organization Hindu Shiv Bhavani Sena for anyone cutting off Fateh Bahadur’s tongue. The poster triggered a debate on freedom of expression and dissent within the political landscape.
