China solidified its lead at the 33rd Olympic Games in Paris on Saturday, with Chen Meng clinching the gold medal in women’s singles table tennis. This victory helped China extend their lead in the medals tally, bringing their total to 36 medals, including 16 gold, 11 silver, and nine bronze.

In the women’s singles table tennis final, Chen Meng, the second seed, showcased her exceptional skills by defeating fellow Chinese player Sun with a final score of 4-11, 11-7, 11-4, 9-11, 11-9, 11-6 at the South Paris Arena 4.

France, the host nation, held onto their second-place position by adding to their medal count with new wins in cycling, judo, and swimming. France’s tally now stands at 12 gold, 14 silver, and 15 bronze, making a total of 41 medals.

Australia is currently in third place with a total of 24 medals: 12 gold, seven silver, and five bronze. The United States follows in fourth place with 51 medals overall—11 gold, 20 silver, and 20 bronze. Great Britain rounds out the top five with a total of 32 medals, including 10 gold, 10 silver, and 12 bronze.

India has dropped to 48th place in the medals table, with a modest count of three bronze medals.
