New Delhi, August 13: The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has postponed its verdict on Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s case, with the decision now expected on August 16. The delay has heightened anticipation among fans and supporters, who are keenly awaiting the outcome.

Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra expressed his thoughts on the delay through a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter). Bindra likened the waiting period to the long and anxious journey athletes endure as they prepare for the Olympics.

“We’ve all felt that frustration when something important gets delayed, and today, many of us are feeling that as we wait for Vinesh Phogat’s CAS judgment,” Bindra posted. He compared the anticipation surrounding the verdict to the emotions athletes experience every four years while waiting for another shot at Olympic glory.

Bindra’s post emphasized that sports go beyond the action on the field, highlighting the patience, persistence, and resilience required to navigate setbacks and delays. “Sport isn’t just about what happens on the field—it’s about the waiting, the patience, and the persistence to keep going, no matter what,” he added.

As the CAS prepares to deliver its decision on August 16, Bindra urged fans to remember the endurance and determination that define an athlete’s journey. “While we wait for August 16th, let’s remember what our athletes endure and cheer them on, knowing they’re playing the longest game of them all,” he concluded.

The CAS’s upcoming verdict will have significant implications for Vinesh Phogat’s future in wrestling, and the sports community remains on edge as the new date approaches.
