It was about a decade ago when the pain of rising inflation in the country was converted into a song – Sakhi Saiyan toh khub hi kamaat hai, mahangai dayan khaye jaat hai. This song was filmy but had become an accurate expression of the then situation. In this song, on one hand, there is a reference to the increasing income of the family, and on the other hand, there was also a complaint about inflation, and then even this increased income seemed small.
Inflation is again becoming a scourge today, but see the irony that earlier in the UPA era it was said that even the increased income due to inflation is of no use, but today they say that if inflation is increasing, the income is also increasing. Even more interesting thing is that in giving this argument the common man of the country is leaving even the leaders of the ruling party behind. Not only this, all those issues like the decrease in growth rate, weakening rupee, unemployment, which had become a problem for the then government, despite being in more challenging conditions since then, the present government does not seem to be stirred through them. The issues on which once the country used to witness demonstrations and agitations on a daily basis, today, instead of coming on the streets on those issues, the general public is seen as the security shield of the government. In the era of social media, when it is easier than ever to mobilize people, there has not been any major mobilization against Prime Minister Modi. This number is so insignificant that in this case the farmers ‘movement will also be called an exception.
This change in the mind of the country has not come overnight. There is a sense of trust in its foundation which has been converted into a lofty edifice in the last seven-eight years. Undoubtedly, behind this is the charismatic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the deep affection and unwavering assurance of a large section of the country’s people towards him, in front of which despite being logical, the opposition’s allegations like inflation, and unemployment also collapse. Costly fuel is at the root of inflation and the government itself says that despite the reduction in the price of crude oil in the international market, it is not reducing the price of diesel & petrol because it is being run for the welfare of various sections of the beneficiary. Along with plans, economic resources are needed for nation-building. Despite not being the beneficiary of these schemes, a large part of the country’s population seems to be standing with the government in support of it even after buying expensive fuel, so what could be the reason for this?
The effect of these public welfare schemes is that on one hand, 80 crore poor people of the country do not face the problem of sleeping hungry due to getting free food grains. With 11 crore farmers getting the benefit of Kisan Samman Nidhi thrice in a year, many difficulties of farming have become easier. More than 3 crore people, who are forced to live on footpaths and in huts, have got a solid roof over their heads. 11 crore mothers and sisters have got Izzat Ghar (toilets), while 9 crore women have got relief from the life-threatening compulsion of lighting the stove or choolha by getting free gas cylinders. With the help of Ayushman Bharat scheme, the life expectancy of two crore families has been strengthened. On the other hand, today a record investment is being made toward nation-building. World-class expressways are being built in the country and railway stations and airports are being rejuvenated. Evidently, while the country is becoming increasingly self-reliant, the countrymen are being imbued with a new kind of national pride they had never experienced before.
Even if we look at it from a global perspective, on one hand, the way India has handled itself in the environment of the crisis caused by the world divided between the worst pandemic like Corona in 100 years and the Russia-Ukraine war on the other hand, only our country can stand out from this. The country is not only filled with confidence and pride, but today a positivity about India is also clearly visible in the whole world. In the era of Corona, when a kind of national gloom was visible due to the horrifying scene of death all around, Prime Minister Modi went ahead and instilled confidence in the people of the country to overcome difficulties and then also made it come true.
It is rare to find such an example at the level of the Heads of the State. Not only this, when even many developed countries were unable to save the lives of their citizens, we delivered life-saving medicines and vaccines to more than 150 countries. When the biggest economies were faltering, our economy despite many hiccups showed the best growth rate by becoming the fifth largest economy in the world. Today we are showing our potential in areas where we had no interest earlier. Fortunately, due to the strong leadership available to the country, today every reliable institution of the world as well as the biggest experts have accepted that India has new possibilities and not instability.
Due to the efficient and strong leadership of Prime Minister Modi, today India is able to speak without any hesitation for the safety of its country and its citizens at the global level. During the Russia-Ukraine war, where a powerful country like America was unable to evacuate its citizens from war-torn Ukraine, India was able to evacuate more than 20,000 citizens under ‘Operation Ganga’. Not only this, India remains the only hope to bring the two countries to the peace table in this war that has dragged on for over a year. The main reason for this is the personna and personality of PM Modi.
In the last nine years, the way he has presented the image of India to the whole world, he has confirmed his image as a global leader not only in domestic politics but also at the international level. There is no doubt that earlier India used to rely on the superpowers of the world – today it has become the center of trust of the so-called superpowers in global diplomacy. Foreign policy has reached that golden age, where the country is no longer compelled to compromise with the national interest, where there is no objection to India having relations with superpowers like America and Russia at the same time.
Undoubtedly, in the last nine years of Prime Minister Modi’s rule, such a ‘New India’ has emerged, which does not run under the thinking and pressure of other countries, but with its own determination, which gets strength from the faith and trust of 140 crore countrymen. Last month, in response to the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address in the budget session of the Parliament, the Prime Minister had described this trust of the countrymen as his biggest strength. In the same speech, the Prime Minister had also made it clear that people’s trust in him was not born from newspaper headlines and TV faces, but for this, he has spent every moment of his life. In fact, it may have been said in response to the ‘lies’ of the country’s political opposition, but it makes one aware of the fact that ‘Modi hai to mumkin hai‘ has become not just a slogan, but an expression of a national campaign as well.
