Ganesh Chaturthi: When Is It? 18 or 19 September?
An important Hindu holiday, Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayak Chaturthi or Ganeshotsav, is observed with tremendous pomp all over India. The Hindu god Lord Ganesha, the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, is honored during the festival in honor of his birth. Lord Ganesha is worshipped as the god of fresh beginnings, the remover of barriers, and the god of wisdom and intelligence in India, particularly in the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Goa.
To mark the occasion, Ganesha’s clay idols are erected both privately in people’s homes and publicly in lavish pandals. Along with prayers and fasting, daily prasad is produced, which includes delicacies like modaka, which is thought to be Ganesha’s favorite sweet. The ninth day of the festival sees the idol being carried through the streets before being submerged in surrounding bodies of water.
The Hindu month of Bhadrapada, which falls between August and September, is when Ganesh Chaturthi typically takes place.
