Many people develop the habit of repeatedly pressing the snooze button each morning. Sleep specialists warn that this routine may quietly damage daily well-being and productivity.
According to health experts, repeatedly delaying the alarm interrupts the body’s natural waking process.
Each snooze cycle briefly wakes the brain and then pushes it back into light sleep. This repeated disruption can affect mood, concentration, and overall alertness throughout the day.
Specialists also note that frequent snoozing may interfere with the body’s circadian rhythm.
The internal clock regulates sleep and wake cycles. Constant interruptions can therefore make it harder to feel refreshed in the morning.
Many individuals press the snooze button because they feel groggy upon waking. Experts, however, emphasise that these extra minutes rarely provide restorative sleep.
Health professionals recommend improving overall sleep hygiene to overcome the problem. Maintaining a consistent bedtime and waking schedule helps stabilise the body’s internal clock.
Placing the alarm clock away from the bed is another effective method. This forces a person to rise to turn it off, preventing repeated snoozing physically.
Exposure to natural light soon after waking can also boost alertness. Opening curtains or stepping outside suppresses melatonin, the hormone responsible for sleepiness, and signals the body to become active.
Experts further advise creating a pleasant morning routine. Activities such as stretching, journaling, listening to music, or taking a brief walk can make waking up easier.
Persistent fatigue despite better sleep habits may indicate an underlying sleep disorder. In such cases, consulting a sleep specialist is recommended.
