10 Things You Should Never Pack For A Stress-Free Holiday

Preparing luggage wisely can elevate your holiday experience. Overpacking adds stress, increases baggage charges and creates unnecessary hassle for travellers.

The popular travel guide from The Indian Express highlights ten everyday items that you should leave behind to streamline your suitcase and move with greater ease.

First on the list is the notorious ‘just in case’ outfit. That extra pair of jeans, an additional dress or a third set of shoes often go unworn.

Travel experts recommend planning outfits around your itinerary and selecting versatile garments in a cohesive colour palette that can be mixed and matched effortlessly.

Costly jewellery ranks second as an item to skip. High-value accessories elevate the risk of loss or theft while exploring new destinations.

Instead, pack only minimal, affordable pieces that you feel comfortable wearing.

Full-size toiletries and heavy containers occupy valuable space and weigh down your bags. Most accommodations provide basic amenities, and travel-sized products or decanted essentials are far more convenient.

Excessive gadgets also contribute to bulk. Do you genuinely need a tablet, a laptop, multiple power banks and three chargers? Many travellers find that a smartphone with a capable camera is more than sufficient.

Brand-new shoes may look attractive, but they can cause discomfort on long walks. Always choose footwear that you have already worn and know to be comfortable.

Bulky towels, blankets and linens are usually unnecessary unless camping. Most hotels and rentals already supply these, so carrying your own can waste precious space.

Other weighty pitfalls include carrying too much cash, work materials you “might” catch up on, hair styling tools and hardcover books.

Excessive currency poses security risks when digital payments are widely accepted. Work items detract from holiday relaxation, and heavy hair tools add unnecessary load.

Finally, opting for paperback books, e-readers, or audiobooks significantly reduces weight over hardbacks.

By leaving behind these common but unnecessary items, travellers can enjoy a lighter bag, smoother transit and a more relaxed journey.
