The Rouse Avenue Court has granted bail to Hema Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav in the Land for Job case. They secured bail on a personal bond of ₹50,000 each. Bhola Yadav, Prem Chand Gupta, and other accused also received relief from the court.

The court took cognizance of the CBI’s final charge sheet and issued summons for the accused to appear. The court clarified that since it had already issued summons to nine accused, including Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, in the first and second charge sheets, there was no need to repeat the process for the third charge sheet.

Five members of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family face charges in this scam. The accused include Rabri Devi, Tejashwi Yadav, Misa Bharti, Tej Pratap Yadav, and Hema Yadav. The final charge sheet named 78 accused, including 30 government employees. The court noted that Prem Chand Gupta had worked closely with Lalu Prasad Yadav during the period of the alleged scam.

Background Of Land For Job Case

This case relates to Group D appointments made in the West Central Division of Indian Railways in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The alleged scam occurred between 2004 and 2009 when Lalu Prasad Yadav served as the Union Railway Minister. According to the CBI, jobs were given in exchange for land.

The CBI registered the case on May 18, 2022, against Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, two daughters, and others, including government officials. On January 30, the court allowed the CBI to prosecute two officials, including former Railway Board officer RK Mahajan. On January 20, 2024, the ED interrogated Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav for 10 hours.

The CBI has filed three separate charge sheets, exposing the same conspiracy. The accused and witnesses remain consistent across all the charge sheets.
