Swami Chaitanyanand Granted Permission For Satvik Meals And Medicines In Tihar Jail

Swami Chaitanyanand, currently in Tihar Jail, has been allowed by the Patiala House Court to receive satvik food and medicines.

The court has deferred hearing on his remaining petitions, which include requests for religious texts, case diaries, and certain personal items, to October 8.

The accused filed three separate applications seeking these provisions, citing the need to maintain dietary and religious practices while in custody.

Delhi Police submitted their response to the court regarding Chaitanyanand’s petitions. During proceedings, police revealed that a new criminal section has been added against him for allegedly intimidating a witness.

The investigation involves women from the Shri Sharda Institute, including Associate Dean Shweta Sharma, Executive Director Bhavna Kapil, and Senior Faculty Kajal. They are accused of threatening complainants and destroying evidence.

Police recovered several pieces of incriminating evidence during the probe.

Chaitanyanand’s obscene chat records revealed him addressing women as ‘baby doll’. Authorities also seized manipulated photographs featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former US President Barack Obama, and a UK leader.

Further investigation revealed that Chaitanyanand had stayed with students in a guesthouse in Almora, Uttarakhand.

Digital evidence from his phone included inappropriate comments on students’ photographs within a WhatsApp group. Additionally, a sex toy and five pornographic CDs were confiscated from his room.

Charges Filed Under IPC

Delhi Police confirmed that Swami Chaitanyanand now faces charges under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Section 232 has been invoked for witness intimidation, while other FIRs cite Sections 75(2), 79, and 351(2) in relation to the sexual harassment allegations and evidence tampering.

The Patiala House Court will hear the remaining petitions filed by Chaitanyanand on October 8.

These include requests for religious texts, personal items, and other essentials. Meanwhile, the ongoing investigation continues to collect evidence and examine witnesses involved in the case.

The court’s order to allow satvik meals and medicines marks a procedural step to ensure basic rights for the accused while the legal process unfolds.
