The Supreme Court has issued a contempt notice to the Maharashtra government for demolishing a house and shop in the Sindhudurg district.
Justice BR Gavai led the bench that sought a reply within four weeks.
Kitabullah Hamidullah Khan filed the petition. He alleged that authorities used a bulldozer after a complaint about anti-India slogans during the India-Pakistan cricket match in the Champions Trophy 2025.
He demanded action against the Chief Officer and Administrator of Malvan Municipal Council.
The petitioner claimed officials demolished his house and shop on February 24. He said an FIR was lodged against him, his wife, and his 14-year-old son.

The complaint accused them of raising anti-India slogans during the match’s second innings.
India had won the match the previous day, beating Pakistan by six wickets. Virat Kohli scored a century in the game played in Dubai.
The petition called the demolition illegal. It cited the Supreme Court’s November 13, 2024, ruling that banned bulldozer action without a show-cause notice and a 15-day response period.
On February 23, 2025, police filed a case against the boy, his father, and his mother in Malvan’s Tarkarli Road area.
The investigating officer confirmed that the accused are out on bail. Police plan to file a charge sheet soon.
