Nitish Katara Case: SC Gives Delhi Govt Two Weeks To Decide On Convict’s Remission

The Supreme Court has directed the Delhi government to decide within two weeks on the remission plea of Sukhdev Pehalwan, convicted in the Nitish Katara murder case. A bench of Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan questioned the government on how Pehalwan would remain in jail beyond March 10, when his 20-year sentence ends.

The court emphasized that the matter pertains to an individual’s liberty. Pehalwan’s lawyer argued that since he has completed his sentence, he should released immediately.
