The Supreme Court on Thursday advised a fighter pilot, who was part of the Balakot airstrike in 2019, and his wife, who are involved in a bitter matrimonial dispute, to ‘forgive each other and move on’.
A bench comprising Justices P S Narsimha and Atul S Chandarchur urged the couple to resolve their differences amicably.
The Justices further said, ” You are young and you have a long life ahead of you; no one can live with a feeling of revenge”.
The bench counselled the couple to reconcile with each other and look forward.
The case stems from a petition filed by the fighter pilot seeking the quashing of the FIR registered against him by his wife, who is an IIM graduate.
The pilot claimed that he and his family are facing mental harassment from his wife and father-in-law. He approached the Supreme Court after the Punjab and Haryana High Court denied his request to quash the FIR.
The woman has allegedly submitted false complaints and cases against the officer and his family in multiple courts in Delhi and Narnaul, Haryana.
When she failed to receive any relief from the courts, she reportedly began filing repeated false complaints with senior officers in the Indian Air Force and the Ministry of Defence, as per the petition.
