A Bangladesh court on Sunday issued arrest warrants against 51 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana.

The warrants are linked to three separate cases over alleged irregularities in the Purbachal New Town plot allocation.

Local media reported that the warrants also covered Sheikh Rehana’s children—Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, Azmina Siddiq, and UK MP Tulip Rizwana Siddiq.

These charges stem from the same land allotment controversy.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order.

The court acted after reviewing charge sheets submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Authorities must submit a progress report on the arrests by April 27.

Earlier this week, the same court issued another arrest warrant against 18 people. The list included Sheikh Hasina and her daughter Saima Wazed Putul, tied to similar allegations in the same project.

Sheikh Hasina now faces a total of six cases linked to the Purbachal New Town land allotment.

In a separate case, a Bangladesh tribunal issued another arrest warrant against Sheikh Hasina. This one concerns the alleged mass killing at Shapla Chattar in 2013 and includes former IGP Benazir Ahmed.

In January, a special tribunal also issued a warrant over alleged enforced disappearances.

Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangladesh’s founding leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, fled the country on August 5 and took refuge in India.

Speaking to Awami League supporters from exile in February, she accused the interim government, led by Muhammad Yunus, of turning the nation into a hub of ‘terrorism’ and ‘lawlessness’.
