Allahabad High Court Seeks Report On Umakant Yadav’s Medical Condition

The Allahabad High Court has directed the Chief Medical Officer of Lucknow to submit a detailed report concerning the medical condition and surgical status of Umakant Yadav, who is reportedly suffering from serious cardiac complications.

The Court specifically sought clarification on whether the petitioner has undergone the proposed operation. It has scheduled the next hearing for May 20.

Justice Vikram D Chauhan issued this directive while hearing three bail pleas filed jointly by the petitioner.

Counsel for Umakant Yadav informed the Court that his client is afflicted with both heart and kidney ailments and is currently receiving treatment at Sir Sunderlal Hospital under Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi.

The defence sought interim bail on medical grounds and requested permission for cardiac surgery at Medanta Hospital in custody.

The counsel assured the Court that all medical expenses would be borne by the petitioner.

Acting on these submissions, the Court instructed the State authorities to transfer the petitioner to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow. It assigned the CMO the responsibility of supervising and reporting on his treatment progress.

The Court further directed that the petitioner should remain hospitalised based strictly on medical advice and must return to custody immediately after treatment concludes.

Subsequently, authorities transferred Umakant Yadav to Lucknow under police escort, where doctors scheduled the surgical procedure.
