The Rajasthan Royals have always been associated with Sanju Samson. Samson has appeared in more IPL matches for Rajasthan Royals than any other player. Samson has scored more runs for Rajasthan in the IPL than any other player. Additionally, after the late great Shane Warne, he currently holds the record for the most IPL appearances as RR captain. Before the 2009 IPL season, KKR had selected a group of players, and Samson was one of them. He signed with the franchise in 2012, but he didn’t play before moving to Rajasthan Royals the following year, where he made his IPL debut.
Sreesanth took Sanju to the trials
Samson told Star Sports recently that his Kerala teammate Sreesanth, a veteran Indian cricketer who had also joined the franchise that same year, took him to RR trials.
During the two-day trial, the India star revealed that he gave a performance unlike any other while under the watchful eye of Rahul Dravid. At that point, an impressed Dravid approached him and offered him the chance to play for RR.
Sanju Samson on his trials for RR
“Sreesanth took me to the RR trials. Dravid and Paddy Upton were also there. I had no idea what kind of players they were looking for, so I didn’t anticipate much from the trials. It was a two-day preliminary which anyway was extremely exceptional as I have at no point in the future batted that way. After that, Rahul sir came to me and said, “You are absolutely doing great.” Are you interested in playing for RR? Given that it came from Rahul sir, that gave me a great deal of confidence. “I’m good enough if a legend like him says, ‘I’m good enough,'” he recalled.
