The Opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) disrupted the Andhra Pradesh Governor’s address to the state Assembly and Legislative Council on Monday, protesting “political killings” and the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. The party members, wearing black scarves, raised slogans and interrupted Governor S. Abdul Nazeer’s speech, eventually staging a walkout.
Earlier, YSRCP President and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, along with MLAs and MLCs, march towards the Assembly wearing black scarves and chanting slogans, but were stop by police at the gate. The police seized and tore their placards, leading to a confrontation with Reddy, who questioned their authority and warned them to remember their duty to protect democracy.

Reddy had met the Governor on Sunday, demanding a Central government agency investigation into the atrocities committed by the ruling TDP-led government. He allege that Constitutional institutions fail, and the administration is paralyz, with no protection for citizens’ lives, limbs, and dignity. He claims that the TDP target YSRCP sympathizers, humiliating, beating, and killing them, citing the brutal murder of YSRCP activist Rashid in Vinukonda on July 17.
Reddy stated that in just one month, 36 people have been murdered, 300 murder attempts made, 35 suicides committed due to TDP harassment, 560 private properties destroyed, 490 government properties vandalized, and 2,700 families forced to flee their villages. He accused the TDP of spreading fear and demanded accountability for their actions.
