The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is racing against time to ensure top-notch medical care for the millions of devotees and saints expected at Maha Kumbh 2025. The ambitious “Swasthya Maha Kumbh” initiative includes deploying specialists from AIIMS Raebareli and Army hospitals, along with state-of-the-art medical facilities to handle the massive influx of attendees.
At the heart of these efforts is a 100-bed hospital nearing completion at the Parade Ground in Prayagraj. Senior Medical Officer Dr. Gaurav Dubey confirmed that approximately 70% of the construction is complete. With the facility expected to be operational before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit on December 13. This hospital will run 24/7 during the festival, offering unlimited outpatient (OPD) services, along with specialized care in emergency wards, delivery rooms, and diagnostic services.

To expand healthcare reach, eight mini-hospitals, each with 20 beds, are being set up across the Maha Kumbh area. The Army Hospital is constructing two 10-bed intensive care units (ICUs) in the fairground and Arail areas. AIIMS Raebareli is also building a 10-bed ICU at a 25-bed hospital in Jhunsi to ensure around-the-clock critical care.
With an estimated 45 crore devotees attending this global cultural gathering, the government is taking extra precautions to manage potential health challenges. Two specialized hospitals for infectious diseases will be operational, ensuring the safety of pilgrims from India and abroad.
The Yogi government’s healthcare plan reflects its commitment to ensuring the well-being of every devotee at Maha Kumbh 2025. By deploying highly skilled specialists, building robust healthcare infrastructure, and ensuring 24/7 services, the administration is setting a benchmark for managing large-scale events.
