SP Delegation Barred From Visiting Sambhal; Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes UP Government

Police stopped a 15-member Samajwadi Party (SP) delegation, led by former Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey, in Lucknow on Saturday as they prepared to visit Sambhal.

Authorities deployed a heavy police presence outside Pandey’s residence, preventing the leaders from leaving for their fact-finding mission.

The delegation, formed on the instructions of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, aimed to gather detailed information about an incident in Sambhal and submit a report to the party’s National President.

However, authorities blocked the group from proceeding to their destination and prevented them from heading to the SP office in Lucknow.

Reacting sharply, Akhilesh Yadav called the ban a ‘failure’ of the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government.

Taking to X, Yadav posted, “Imposing a ban is a failure of the BJP government’s governance, administration and government management. If the government had imposed such a ban earlier on those who dreamed of causing riots and made people raise frenzied slogans, the atmosphere of harmony and peace in Sambhal would not have been spoiled.”

He argued that, just as the BJP replaces the entire Cabinet at once, the authorities should suspend and dismiss the entire administrative board in Sambhal, from top to bottom, for negligence and charge them with conspiracy. He called for strict action against them and demanded that they face a murder charge.

Yogi Government Scared Of SP Delegation: Samajwadi Party

The Samajwadi Party also condemned the move on its official X handle. The party claimed that the Yogi Adityanath-led government was afraid of the SP’s presence.

The post read, “Yogi government scared of SP delegation! At the behest of the government, the police prevented the honourable state President Shyam Lal Pal from leaving the house and placed him under house arrest.”

“The BJP government is tearing the Constitution and democracy to shreds. Totally reprehensible!” the post added.

The delegation, led by Mata Prasad Pandey, also includes Legislative Council leader Lal Bihari Yadav, state president Shyam Lal Pal, along with other MLAs, MLCs, and notable officials.
