Fridman’s podcast is known for hosting influential figures, including Elon Musk, Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and Jordan Peterson. The show is famous for its long, open-ended conversations, often lasting over three hours. Fridman takes a neutral stance, aiming to understand his guests rather than challenge them.
Lex Fridman’s Background
Lex Fridman, 41, was born in present-day Tajikistan and moved to the United States at age 11. His father, Alexander Fridman, was a leading plasma physicist in the Soviet Union and later taught at Drexel University in Pennsylvania, where Lex earned his undergraduate and doctoral degrees.
Fridman worked as a Machine Learning researcher at Google from 2014 to 2015. He then became a researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His 2019 study on how drivers behaved while using Tesla’s semi-automatic cars gained attention. Despite criticism for its small sample size and lack of peer review, the study impressed Elon Musk, helping Fridman rise in prominence.
The Lex Fridman Podcast’s Growth
Fridman launched his podcast in 2018, focusing on AI. After Musk invited him for a conversation following the Tesla study, his audience grew rapidly. The podcast now covers a wide range of topics, with over 400 episodes published. Fridman remains connected to MIT but is primarily focused on his podcast.
PM Modi’s appearance on the Lex Fridman podcast adds to the show’s list of high-profile guests, reinforcing its influence in global conversations.
