Pm Modi receiving Lokmanya Tilak Award
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award in Pune. The event was organized on the 103rd Death anniversary of freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak. PM Modi expressed his heartfelt gratitude and remarked, “This is a memorable moment for me”. Even after mulitiple disapprovals the ‘INDIA’ alliance, Sharad Pawar shared stage with the Prime Minister. Not only that, they involved in a candid conversation on stage.
Pawar recognizes “Supreme Leadership” of PM Modi
Sharad Pawar attended the ceremony to present PM Modi with the Lokmanya Tilak Award, honouring his “supreme leadership” and contribution to instilling a feeling of patriotism in the public.
Pawar chose to share the stage with Modi in opposition of demands from opposition INDIA alliance members. The members of the INDIA coalition were worried about how such a move would come across, particularly as they attempted to project a unified front against the BJP. Pawar refused to back down from attending the ceremony despite attempts by certain MPs to convince him otherwise.

Protest against Modi while he gets felicitated
During the visit, a number of social organisations and representatives from various political parties organised a combined protest against Modi. The protest was headed by well-known social activist Baba Adhav, and participants carried black flags.
Approximately 300 metres from the Dagdusheth Halwai Ganesh temple, where Modi conducted puja shortly after arriving in Pune, the alliance members’ protest was staged in Mandai. Participants in the protest included leaders of the Congress, the Shiv Sena (UBT), the NCP (Sharad Pawar group), and a number of social organisations.
