Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot used Twitter to ‘welcome’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi and list five requests for the central after claiming that his welcome speech during the PM’s visit to Sikar had been canceled. The requests include, among other things, a resolution on the caste census, the cancellation of the Agniveer plan, and loan forgiveness for farmers.
On Thursday, July 27, the PM is scheduled to travel to the border state to lay the groundwork for a number of development projects.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) responded to Gehlot’s tweet by stating that the CM had been “duly invited,” but that he would not be able to attend.
“Your office PMO has removed my pre-scheduled 3-minute address from the program,” Gehlot tweeted, “so I will not be able to welcome you through my speech, but I heartily welcome you to Rajasthan through this tweet.”
According to protocol, you have been formally invited, and your speech has also been scheduled, the PMO said. But according to your office, you won’t be able to attend… You’re welcome to participate in today’s program. Your name is prominently displayed on the plaque for the construction project as well. Your presence will be very appreciated unless your recent injury has caused any physical discomfort.
