WATCH: Woman Smacks Haryana MLA Over Floods, Asks, ‘Why Have You Come Now?’

A woman who was outraged over the flooding in Haryana hit Ishwar Singh of the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) on Wednesday as he was evaluating the situation in Ghula. She was plainly upset about the local floods that had occurred as a result of the Ghaggar River overflowing.

“Why have you come now?” she shouted as she smacked the legislator. She was angry because a “bundh” (little dam) had collapsed, letting water in and causing flooding.

In response to the event, the JJP MLA said that he was approached by people when he was attempting to evaluate the flood situation in a village. JJP is a member of the coalition government in Haryana, which is run by the BJP.

“The lady said the ‘bundh’ would not have broken if I had wanted it. He was quoted as saying by the news agency PTI: “Despite the fact that I told her it was a natural calamity and there had been a lot of rain recently.

He stated that he had “forgiven” the woman for her actions and will not pursue legal action against her. “I don’t want to see her acts penalised in any way. I have forgiven her,” he said.

Relief operations are ongoing since the overflowing Ghaggar River caused by recent heavy rains is still having an impact on a number of communities in Punjab and Haryana.
