Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar
Jaipur, Aug 18: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar called for placing national interest above personal and political gains during an event organized by the Jain Social Groups (JSG) Central Sansthan and the Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti in Jaipur. Dhankhar addressed attendees, stressing the need to combat forces that prioritize personal and political interests over the nation.
Nationalism and the Legacy of the 1975 Emergency
Dhankhar stated, “We see some individuals putting personal and political interests before national interest. Such forces must be stopped. Our identity as Indians means prioritizing the nation above all. We must remain steadfast in our nationalism under all circumstances.”
The Vice President also reflected on the 1975 Emergency, describing it as a “dark chapter” in India’s history. He highlighted the Union government’s new initiative to observe “Sanvidhan Hatya Diwas” to educate younger generations about the drawbacks of the Emergency period. Dhankhar noted, “Observing ‘Sanvidhan Hatya Diwas’ is crucial to informing the youth about the shortcomings of the 1975 Emergency. Fundamental rights were suspended, and even the Supreme Court failed to uphold its duties. The executive’s dictatorial attitude reached its peak.”
Significance of Organ Donation
In addition to his comments on national issues, Dhankhar emphasized the profound significance of organ donation. He described it as a spiritual act and the highest moral expression of human nature. According to Dhankhar, organ donation reflects the deepest virtues of compassion and selflessness.
The Vice President encouraged citizens to embrace organ donation as a personal mission. He highlighted the theme of World Organ Donation Day, “Be the Reason for Someone’s Smile Today,” urging everyone to make a personal and family commitment to this noble cause.
