Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, BJP President JP Nadda on Monday addressed a public rally in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand.

Addressing a public rally, JP Nadda stated, “We are moving forward with the resolution of developed India under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi Ji.”

“Ten years ago, politics was filled with indifference. Common people used to say that nothing would change through politics. Within ten years, Prime Minister Modi Ji has changed the definition and culture of politics,” Nadda said.

Nadda Unveils Vision For Zero Electricity Bills

The BJP President announced the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, promising solar-powered households and zero electricity bills in the near future. He outlined the scheme’s key feature of enabling households to generate electricity, with the government purchasing surplus power.

Nadda asserted, “Under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, electricity will be produced from solar energy in every household, and in the coming days, your electricity bill will become zero.”

“Under the scheme, you will generate electricity, and the government will purchase your electricity,” Nadda added.

Uttarakhand will got to vote in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP won all the five seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls securing 61.7 per cent votes.

Among the 543 Lok Sabha seats, Uttarakhand contributes just 5 seats.

As per Election Commission of India, the people of Uttarakhand will cast their votes in a single phase on 19 April.

Uttarakhand however has witnessed a close contest between the BJP and Congress. Following this, both parties see the state as an essential battleground for displaying and gaining supporters for their national narratives.

Meanwhile, the BJP had won all the Lok Sabha seats in the elections in both the 2014 and 2019 elections. With 47 out of 70 assembly seats, the BJP dominated in the 2022 assembly polls. Congress, on the other hand got 19 seats. BSP and Independents hold 2 seats each.
