ShahUnion Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday expressed confidence that Uttar Pradesh will emerge as a fully developed state by 2047, when India marks 100 years of Independence, and will play a central role in building a Viksit Bharat.
Addressing the ‘Uttar Pradesh Diwas’ celebrations, Shah congratulated the people of the state on its foundation day and said the vision of a developed India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is closely linked with the transformation of Uttar Pradesh.
He added that under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the double-engine government has resolved to create a Viksit Uttar Pradesh aligned with national goals.
According to the Home Minister, Uttar Pradesh is steadily evolving into the growth engine of the country. He said the state also holds unique cultural and spiritual significance as the land of Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, Baba Vishwanath, Mahavir and Lord Buddha.
Highlighting the state’s transformation, Shah said Uttar Pradesh was once viewed largely as a labour-supplying state, but has now become a driving force of India’s economy.
He criticised previous governments for reducing the state to a ‘Bimaru’ category, stating that the BJP-led government changed this narrative by ensuring development reached every village.
Referring to the Rashtra Prerna Sthal, Shah said the state government transformed an area that once housed a massive garbage dump spread over 65 acres. The site was later developed into the venue for the ‘One District, One Cuisine’ event.
He said the transformation of the site into a clean and vibrant space reflected the state government’s approach to development. According to him, it highlighted a strong commitment to urban renewal.
Shah also praised the success of the ‘One District, One Product’ scheme. He said the initiative has generated employment for youth and women and has been replicated across the country.
The Home Minister said the ‘One District, One Cuisine’ initiative has played a key role in promoting the state’s identity. He added that it has helped showcase Uttar Pradesh’s diverse culinary heritage.
Shah referred to the UP Gaurav Samman 2026 awards presented to astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, Physics Wallah founder Alakh Pandey and poet Hariom Pawar. He said such recognitions serve as an inspiration for future generations.
Amit Shah further stated that Uttar Pradesh now leads in the food business sector. He also said the state has the highest number of airports in the country and has significantly curbed corruption.
Citing the construction of the Ram Temple, Shah highlighted a major cultural milestone. He also referred to the successful organisation of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj and expressed confidence that the BJP would return to power in the state.
