Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath responded sharply on Wednesday to Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav’s recent comment about bulldozers targeting Gorakhpur after 2027. Adityanath contended that operating bulldozers requires both mental and physical fortitude, suggesting that not everyone is equipped for the task.
In his response, Adityanath also took a swipe at Yadav, comparing him to the historical figure Tipu Sultan. “Tipu is now dreaming of becoming a Sultan,” Adityanath said, mocking Yadav’s ambitions.
The Chief Minister elaborated, “Not everyone can handle a bulldozer. It requires both courage and intellect. Only those with the capability and commitment, like a bulldozer, can operate it effectively.” He added, “Those who are used to bowing before rioters will falter before a bulldozer.”

Yadav’s remarks on Tuesday suggested that if the SP comes to power in 2027, it would shift the focus of bulldozer demolitions from their current targets to Gorakhpur. His comments followed the Supreme Court’s scrutiny of the legality of demolitions conducted by state governments using bulldozers.
Adityanath countered by asserting that the current double-engine government of Uttar Pradesh is dedicated to the welfare of all citizens without bias. He criticized the previous administration, which he claimed was more focused on empty promises than actual progress. “They were busy building castles in the air, while their dreams and hopes have now been shattered,” Adityanath remarked.
The ongoing exchange between Adityanath and Yadav reflects their fierce political rivalry. Earlier, Adityanath accused the SP of promoting anarchy and hooliganism, while Yadav retorted, questioning Adityanath’s understanding of the situation.
