Cow dung is used to make variety of household items
11 June, Shahjahanpur (U.P.) A teacher in Shahjahanpur uses cow dung to create nameplates, wall hangings, and incense sticks. Pooja Gangwar, a 42-year-old primary school teacher in the Rajanpur village of Uttar Pradesh district’s Tilhar region, has raised over 50 cows and uses their manure as the main ingredient in the production of these goods.
Why Gangwar uses cow dung?
According to Gangwar, cow dung has religious significance. It can also be utilized to create a variety of home goods.
She claimed that individuals from various state districts come to her for training.
Fragrances, havan material, wall hangings, nameplates, and trophies are just a few of the goods manufactured by her company, which employs about a dozen people.
Since 2017, according to Gangwar, she has started producing these products from cow poop.
Umesh Pratap Singh, the district magistrate of Shahjahanpur, said: “A primary school teacher crafts items for the home, incense sticks, “havan” material, religious symbols, and lamps out of cow dung. It serves as a model.”

“Every village pradhan in the district has been urged to retain at least 10 cows. It encourages for people to raise cows, ” he added.
Keeping items made from dried cow dung in the home has no health hazards, according to Dr. Salim Ahmed, Assistant Professor at Government Medical College.
Arun Kumar Pandey, the district industry center’s assistant general manager, announced that Gangwar will train attendees at a workshop on items created from cow dung that will be held soon.
