The Yogi government has removed the rule that imposed a Rs 5 lakh fine for leaving a medical seat in Uttar Pradesh.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak announced on Thursday that this rule is no longer in effect for medical education institutions.
“This rule has been abolished by the Yogi government,” he stated in response to a question from Samajwadi Party legislator Man Singh Yadav during the Question Hour.
The Deputy Chief Minister also mentioned that any harassment of doctors in medical institutions will be investigated. He noted that many doctors leave their PG studies due to personal reasons, and now they will not face a fine for doing so.

Man Singh Yadav claimed that three doctors, Dr. Ankur, Dr. Priyanka, and Dr. Meenu Amar of Sanjay Gandhi PGI, were harassed because they belong to the SC and OBC castes.
In response, the Deputy Chief Minister assured that if such allegations are proven true, strict action will be taken.
