Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Prayagraj on Saturday to offer prayers and perform rituals at the holy Ganga River during Magh Mela 2026.
Participating in Ganga Puja, the CM also took a holy dip as part of the ongoing Snan Parv celebrations at the Sangam, marking a key spiritual moment for devotees.
Holding meetings with officials, Adityanath assessed preparations for major bathing festivals, including Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya, Basant Panchami, Maghi Purnima, and Mahashivratri.
Welcoming thousands of devotees from across India, these bathing rituals form the spiritual highlight of the 44-day-long fair, which commenced on January 3 with the auspicious Paush Purnima.
Attending the manifestation ceremony of Shri Jagadguru Ramanandacharya, the Chief Minister visited Sattu Baba’s pandal after performing Ganga Puja.
Meeting sadhus, seers, and religious leaders present at the Magh Mela site, he also participated in a programme marking the 726th birth anniversary of Ramanandacharya. Highlighting the significance of the fair, Adityanath emphasised the deep cultural and spiritual traditions associated with Prayagraj and the Ganga river.
Including a visit to Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Adityanath’s Prayagraj trip reflected the state government’s focus on both religious and educational engagements.
He announced arrangements for safety, logistics, and facilities, ensuring that authorities could manage the Mela’s massive turnout effectively.
The Magh Mela will conclude on February 15 with the holy bath on Mahashivratri, celebrating six major bathing occasions and reaffirming Prayagraj’s status as a timeless centre of faith and culture.
Showcasing elaborate arrangements, devotional fervour, and a huge turnout, the Magh Mela 2026 once again demonstrated the city’s importance as a hub of spiritual, cultural, and religious activities in India.
