Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has criticized the Samajwadi Party (SP) over the gang rape of a 12-year-old girl in Ayodhya. In a speech to the UP Assembly, CM Adityanath accused Moin Khan, an active SP member and part of Ayodhya MP’s team, of being involved in the crime. He pointed out that Khan, who is accused of the rape, is closely associated with the SP MP, yet the party has not taken action against him.
CM Adityanath also referenced National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data from 2016 to 2024, highlighting significant reductions in various crimes: dacoity has dropped by 86.47%, robbery by 78.17%, murder by 43.21%, and kidnapping for ransom by 70%. Regarding crimes against women, there has been a decrease of 17.43% in dowry deaths, 25.30% in rape, 16.56% in outraging modesty, and 0.17% in kidnapping.

He further noted that, compared to the national average, crimes against women have significantly reduced in Uttar Pradesh from 2017 to 2022. In contrast, states like Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Telangana, Odisha, and West Bengal saw higher increases in crimes against women. For instance, in the case of rape, states like Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand reported more incidents than Uttar Pradesh, which ranks 24th in rape cases. Uttar Pradesh is 17th in outraging modesty, meaning 16 states reported more such crimes.
SP leader Moin Khan and his servant, Raju Khan, who are accused of the gang rape, have been arrested by the police.
