Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, visited the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) on Friday evening, marking his first visit to the campus since assuming office. During his visit, Shri Jadhav conducted a thorough inspection of the campus, reviewing the facilities and the treatments being provided to patients.
In a program organized at the institute, Shri Jadhav underscored the government’s commitment to realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of bringing Ayurveda into every household. He highlighted the challenges faced by Ayurveda and traditional Indian medical systems during periods of foreign invasion and colonial rule, but noted a significant shift since 2014 under the leadership of the Modi government. Today, the global perspective on Yoga and Ayurveda has transformed, with public acceptance growing rapidly.
Shri Jadhav announced plans to open ten new AYUSH institutes within the next five years, aiming to expand access to traditional medical systems across India, paralleling the reach of the allopathic system. Speaking to journalists, he mentioned that the President of India had expressed a desire to visit the institute, prompting his review of the institute’s preparations.
Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Nesari, Director of AIIA, expressed her gratitude to the Minister, acknowledging his pivotal role in promoting Ayurveda. She affirmed that the institute would continue to benefit from his guidance and support in bringing Ayurveda to the masses and establishing it on the global stage.
During his visit, Shri Jadhav also participated in several significant activities, including the inauguration of an auditorium dedicated to the memory of the late Medical Superintendent, Sanjay Gupta, who lost his life during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, he released the brochure for the International Conference Aroha-2024, scheduled to take place from October 17 to 19.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Shri Satyajit Paul, Deputy Director General of the IC Department of AYUSH, alongside officials from the Ayurveda Institute, such as PhD Dean Prof. Dr. Mahesh Vyas, Medical Superintendent Prof. (Dr.) Anand Raman Sharma, Additional MS (Dr.) Yogesh Badve, as well as students and employees.
The All India Institute of Ayurveda, established in 2017 by the Prime Minister, has treated over 2.6 million patients since its inception. In the past seven years, the institute has emerged as a leading center for Ayurveda education and research on a global scale. AIIA is also the first institute to receive A+++ accreditation by NAC under the Ministry of AYUSH, reaffirming its dedication to providing high-quality health services.
